Earl W. Jimerson Housing Corporation has waiting lists for all of its apartments. New applicants should use this site to obtain an application and to get on the waiting list. We look forward to welcoming you to one of Brooklyn’s most vibrant and exciting communities.
The wait time for an application is approximately 2-3 years long. There is a non-refundable application fee of $75.00. It is to be submitted with the application, in check or money order form (only), made out to Earl W. Jimerson Housing.
All applicants (adults age 18 years and older) are subject to a credit and criminal background investigation. Jimerson expects applicants to have a credit score of 650 or greater. Any applicant that receives a credit score below 650 will be denied. If you are not sure about your credit score, you are encouraged to obtain your report prior to paying the fee for your credit check in connection with this application. Application and credit score fees are non-refundable in the event the application is denied based on the credit score.
In the event you do not have a credit score, because you have never established credit, we will consider your application provided you can demonstrate that you have paid other bills on a consistent basis. For this purpose we will consider gas and electric bills, cable bills, telephone bills, and current landlord verification.
All applicants (adults age 18 years and older) along with the credit and criminal investigation will also submit to an employment verification. There will also be a home visit conducted. The home visit is to verify the family composition, so all members listed on the application are required to be present at the time of the visit. The cost of these investigations is the responsibility of the applicant and must be paid when we contact you for an apartment. Enclosed is the application screening fees listing. Also note that any criminal conviction on you, your co-applicant or anyone listed on your application will result in your application being denied.
Please fully understand that this application is accepted for a waiting list only and is subject to review as to eligibility under the rules and regulations established by Earl W. Jimerson with the approval of the Commissioner, New York State Division of Housing and Community Renewal Earl W. Jimerson adheres to New York State Rules and Regulation, section 1727-1.3(d) which states that, “eligible applicants” shall be given one right of refusal of an apartment without prejudice to their standing on the waiting list. A second refusal shall result in their removal from the waiting list.
Deposits are required immediately upon acceptance of an apartment which you have seen and agreed to.
Note: A deposit on an apartment is 100% refundable if an offer has to be cancelled. All payments must be in the form of a Certified Bank Check or money orders ONLY
